Newest AFL Expansion Team Gets a Major Boost on Offense and Defense from Seasoned NFL Players The LA KISS announced today two exciting player additions with the assignments of former National Football League (NFL) talents, Defensive End David Veikune and Wide Receiver Josh Jarboe. Both will make their Arena Football League (AFL) debuts this season.
“The additions of Josh Jarboe and David Veikune to the LA KISS roster are significant and demonstrate our organization’s ability to attract the best athletes available to fill key positions,” stated Schuyler Hoversten, President of LA KISS. “This announcement further shows our commitment to building a winning team and providing our fans the best live experience in sports!”
Veikune (6’3”, 270, Hawaii) joins LA KISS following time spent in the NFL and will use his impressive size and non-stop motor to add a new level of intimidation to the team’s defense. David was a two-time All WAC conference first team performer with Hawaii before being selected in the 2nd round of the 2009 NFL draft by the Cleveland Browns. His NFL career included time with both the Browns and Denver Broncos.
Jarboe (6’3”, 205, Arkansas State) joins LA KISS on the offensive side of the ball and brings NFL size and speed to the team. Jarboe was one of the top wide receiver recruits in the nation coming out of high school before playing at Oklahoma and finishing his collegiate career at Arkansas State. At Arkansas St. Josh finished with 104 receptions for 1300 yards and 6 TDs, which earned him All Sun Belt conference honors. He spent time with the Washington Redskins in the NFL and is expected to showcase his athletic talents for LA KISS.
“With David Veikune on the defensive side of the ball and Josh Jarboe on the offensive side of the ball, our team instantly became more physical and talented,” said Bob McMillen, Head Coach for LA KISS. “David is a big, physical defensive end who is violent with his hands and plays with an attitude and is always on the move. Josh brings immense talent and a ton of upside as he is an explosive player who can stretch the field. I’m looking forward to seeing both of them in LA KISS uniforms.”
Both Veikune and Jarboe are expected to contribute immediately to the expansion LA KISS due to their highly successful collegiate careers and experience in the NFL.
