The LA KISS announced today three players from the team’s roster have signed NFL contracts. LA KISS DB George Baker, WR Demarco Sampson and WR Chris Summers, each of whom are in their rookie season with the LA KISS, signed contracts with varying NFL teams – a testament to the talent level in the Arena Football League.
“We’re excited for these guys. They have worked hard to get back to the NFL and are very deserving of this opportunity,” said Bob McMillen, Head Coach of LA KISS. “While it is tough to lose such talented players, this is a great example of the tremendous talent in the Arena Football League. Every team in the league has former NFL players and we are fortunate to currently have 30 former NFL players on our roster.”
LA KISS will be televised this season with at least four games on either ESPN or CBS Sports Network in addition to local broadcasts. This exposure provides a great platform for LA KISS players to showcase their skills to a national audience.
“Over 300 AFL players have gone on to play in the NFL over the years, commented LA KISS Team President, Schuyler Hoversten. “Our fans are going to witness some of the best talent in football but with the added benefit of an all-encompassing entertainment experience that is second to none.”
DB George Baker (6′, 190, South Florida) signed a Futures Contract with the Tennessee Titans in early January. He previously spent time at the Titans 2013 summer training camp.
WR Demarco Sampson (6’3″, 205, San Diego State) signed as a Free Agent with the San Francisco 49ers on Tuesday, January 14, 2014. He is a former seventh round draft pick with the Arizona Cardinals during the 2011 NFL Draft.
WR Chris Summers (6’5″, 220, Liberty) signed as a Free Agent with the Buffalo Bills on Thursday, January 16, 2014. He had previously spent time on the practice squads for both the Chicago Bears and Minnesota Vikings.
Terms for each of these contracts are undisclosed, but each player will go on the LA KISS Other League Exempt List (OLEX) which means the LA KISS will maintain the right’s to these players if they are released from their prospective teams.
