The Arena Football League’s newest expansion team, LA KISS, battled the San Jose SaberCats at Stockton Arena in a preseason scrimmage last night.

The LA KISS played well in their first match up against an AFL opponent, leading a majority of the second half of the game. San Jose scored with a minute left to bring the game within 8 points but the KISS ran out the clock to win 48-40.

The SaberCats have experienced a considerable amount of success throughout their 18 year history; the KISS will build from this momentum in as they continue to prepare for the regular season.

“We are happy with the way the guys came out and played,” said Head Coach Bob McMillen (34-23 overall; 0-0 with Los Angeles). “With cuts coming up, the way they played today will definitely make the decision that much harder.”

McMillen adds, “The victory against the SaberCats gives us great momentum going into week one and we look forward to the upcoming season.”

LA KISS opens their inaugural season on the road Saturday, March 15th in San Antonio at 5PM. Season tickets for the KISS are on sale now and single game tickets go on sale March 15th at 10AM.
